The National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases

Ms. Trude W. Hilliard is the Supervisory Grants Management Specialist for the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition (DDN) Team in the Grants Management Branch.  Ms. Hilliard majored in Business Management at the University of District of Columbia (1971-1978), and has a Level III Grants Management Certification sanctioned by the NIH/DHHS.  She has been a Grants Management Specialist in NIDDK for fifteen years.  She was promoted to Team Leader in April, 2006.  Prior experience includes working as a Grants Technical Assistant in the Review Branch of the National Dental and Craniofacial Research Institute, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Center for Research Services, National Cancer Institute, and National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). She transitioned from the Review Branch of NHGRI to the Grants Management Branch of NHGRI in January, 1990.  In addition to duties as a GTA in NHGRI, she was the team leader of Grants Technical Support for the Grants Management Office, and the Coordinator of the NHGRI National Advisory Council Meetings.  After sixteen months with NHGRI, she accepted and completed a nine month Grants Management Career Opportunity Training Agreement (COTA) position in NIDDK beginning in January, 1991, which led to a Grants Management Specialist promotion.

She is currently a member of the National Grants Management Association, Federally Employed Women (FEW), and the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA).  She also serves as a member on the following internal NIDDK committees:  NIDDK Business Practices Committee, and Clinical Trials Work Group.
