Diagnosis and History Study of Patients With Different Neurological Conditions

  Purpose

The goal of this study is to diagnose and follow patients with disorders of movement control. Patients participating in this study will undergo routine laboratory tests and examinations in order to monitor their condition.

Doctors at the NIH will work in cooperation with each patient's primary care physician. There will be no use of investigational treatments in this study.

Detailed Description:

The objective of this protocol is to provide screening, diagnosis and follow up in the Human Motor Control Section (HMCS), Medical Neurology Branch (MNB). The goal is to screen patients with neurological conditions and family members of patients with neurological conditions for enrollment in additional research protocols. No investigational treatments will be administered on this protocol and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) physicians will be playing a consultative role to the patient's primary physician.

  Eligibility

Ages Eligible for Study:   5 Years and older
Genders Eligible for Study:   Both
Accepts Healthy Volunteers:   No
Criteria
  • ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Subjects may be included in this protocol if they have an identifiable neurological disorder or have a family history of neurological disorders. These disorders would include patients with Parkinson's disease, dystonia, cerebellar disorders, and other movement disorders. Both males and females ranging in age from five (5) years to one hundred (100) years old would be eligible to participate in the protocol.

INCLUSION CRITERIA:

Patients with neurological disorders and subjects with a family history of neurological conditions.

EXCLUSION CRITERIA:

Patients less than 5 years or greater than 100 years.
