HHS Careers is Upgrading to Include EXCITING New Features!
HHS Careers has improved again! Be sure to contact HR Systems Support with any questions that you may have regarding HHS Careers by submitting a WiTS ticket. Here are a few of the new features HHS Careers, version 4.4, has to offer:
- Social Security Numbers (SSN) Masked - In Applicant Manager, SSNs are now masked except for the last 4 digits (***-**-1234). The last 4 digits can be used in the SSN Search function. In the Add Applicant function, the SSNs are masked entirely (***-**-****). Additionally, as applicants complete their online applications, their SSNs are masked in the fields of their USAJOBS profile. This greatly increases privacy for our New Hires.
- Vacancy Deletion Confirmation - When the Delete button is selected, a pop-up window will now appear to confirm if the user really wants to delete the vacancy.
- Filter on All Categories Button - The Filter on All Categories button is a new function available in the manager view of the Question Library. This simplifies searches for selecting officials and administrative staff.
- USAJOBS link - The Recruitment One Stop (ROS) link in the Vacancy Builder has been renamed USAJOBS.
- Vacancy Preview Link - Copies of vacancy announcements for filled vacancies can now be obtained via the QuickHire Vacancy Preview Link which will now appear when a filled vacancy is selected in the Vacancy Builder.
- Question Types Now Appear - Question types appear in Step 5 of Vacancy Builder. This means users can now view questions along with question ID numbers and weights from the Vacancy Builder. Previously, the question types were only visible in Step 4 and were not available once the vacancy was approved. A printout of Step 5 may be used to send either to managers or for placement in the case file.
- Post Check-Box - On Step 7 of the Vacancy Builder, a new Post check box appears until vacancy is posted. To post approved vacancies users must now check Post and click Finish. After the vacancy has posted, a Cancel check box becomes available. Checking this box and clicking Finish will cancel the USAJOBS posting of the vacancy.
- Applicant Email Addresses Added to Certificate - When generating a certificate, applicant email addresses can now be added to the certificate.
Overview
The Department of Health and Human Services has implemented an automated staffing solution to streamline the hiring processes department-wide. HHS Careers is built on the QuickHire/QuickClassification system.
HHS Careers uses job specific questions to evaluate candidates. NIH tasked teams composed of HR professionals and IC subject matter experts to develop standardized questions and position descriptions that are unique to NIH. Using HHS Careers, highly qualified candidates are ready to be hired quickly, which will be a competitive advantage for NIH. In today's environment, the best applicants for scientific, technical and professional jobs don't always wait 3-6 months for employment offers.
Interested applicants no longer focus on writing "good" KSAs (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) as is required with USAJOBS. With HHS Careers, applicants will respond to position-specific questions that demonstrate the KSAs required to successfully perform the job.
