NCRR's Division for Clinical Research Resources provides funding to biomedical research institutions to establish and maintain specialized clinical research facilities and clinical-grade biomaterials that enable clinical and patient-oriented research.

NCRR's Division of Comparative Medicine helps meet the needs of biomedical researchers for high-quality, disease-free animals and specialized animal research facilities.

NCRR's Division of Research Infrastructure supports programs to enhance the competitiveness of investigators in underserved states and institutions and also provides funding to build, expand, remodel, or renovate research facilities throughout the nation.

NCRR's Division of Biomedical Technology supports research to develop innovative technologies and helps make them accessible to the biomedical research community.

NCRR's Science Education Partnership Awards are designed to improve life science literacy throughout the nation.

Visitor Information

The National Center for Research Resources has offices both in Building 31 on the National Institutes of Health main campus and in One Democracy Plaza in Bethesda, Maryland. We recommend that you confirm your meeting location before visiting us, as these buildings are about three miles apart.

Directions

You can get driving directions from your address to either NCRR location using the interactive map above (using this feature will send the address you enter to the Google Maps Web site), or view general driving directions to Democracy Plaza for the metropolitan Washington area and points beyond.

Visiting Democracy Plaza

Parking

A commercially operated visitor parking lot is located directly east of the building.

To reach visitor parking after entering from Democracy Boulevard, turn right and follow the signs directing you to make three more left turns into the lot.

From Fernwood Road, drive forward and turn left immediately in front of the building.

Public Transit and Shuttle Service

Visitors also may use the NIH Shuttle (Rockledge Route) to travel to Democracy Plaza from the Medical Center Metrorail Station.

Visiting the NIH Main Campus

If you drive to NIH, allow some extra time to get through security checkpoints at the visitor entrances. Be aware that visitor parking lots on the NIH campus can fill up quickly. Consider taking public transportation as an alternative.
