Animal Models for the Evaluation of Experimental Therapies and Vaccines

Application Process

In general, compounds that score a selective index of “10” or above in the NIAID in vitro evaluations are considered for evaluation in relevant animal models. Materials that are thought to act by other mechanisms (immune modulators or anti-inflammatory agents) may be tested directly in the animal model. If no in vitro data are available, the compound should be screened first in the AACF in vitro Antiviral Testing Program.

For more information, please see the Protocol for Requesting Access to Antiviral Testing in Animals (non-Government link).
