HSPD-12 NED PIV Build

Scope

The NIH Office of Research Services (ORS) HSPD-12 Program Office, Office of the Chief Information Technology Architect (OCITA), and other HSPD-12 stakeholders developed a set of business process models to define the PIV Build process and identify how various systems must interact to fulfill this initiative. The NIH Enterprise Directory (NED) is the authoritative source for identity management at NIH and a central component of the NIH process for issuing PIV cards. The HSPD-12 PIV project for NED is to implement the defined business process.

Expected Value

  • Compliance with the HPSD-12 mandate and integration with the HHS Identity Program
  • Integrate commercial business process management technology to streamline the business process, thus allowing accurate measurement of workflow processes
  • Align with NIH tactical and strategic enterprise architecture

2008 1st Quarter

  • Enhance the NED registration process to meet the HPSD-12 PIV requirements
  • Develop sponsorship function and integrate with the enrollment, adjudication and issuance processes


2008 2nd Quarter

  • Finish development and begin issuing PIV cards using the new HSPD-12 PIV business process model
  • Complete User Acceptance Testing


2008 3rd Quarter

  • Begin Phase II of development to include supplementary HSPD-12 business processes (i.e. badge renewal)
  • Identify opportunities to improve the business process
  • Integrate with Pegasys PACS


2008 4th Quarter

  • Release Phase II implementations
