Architecture Review Board

Purpose


The Architecture Review Board (ARB), chartered by the ITWG, is the primary oversight body for the NIH Enterprise Architecture (EA) program.


Responsibilities

The ARB is an executive-level committee whose primary responsibilities are:

  • Establishing an initial agreement on:
    • Why and how an architecture will benefit the enterprise
    • The level of effort involved
    • Commitment to comply with the guidelines.
  • Monitoring the state of the architecture program, the degree of compliance and whether projected benefits are achieved
  • Approving or rejecting domain teams’ architecture recommendations
  • Approving or denying major project exception requests
  • Forwarding any unresolvable enterprise architecture process-related issues to the ITWG for adjudication
  • Adjudicating architecture related conflicts as necessary
  • Establishing working groups as necessary
