Research Interests
- Clinical Cancer Genetics
- Genetic Counseling
- Behavioral Research
Ms. Peters is providing genetic education, counseling, and risk assessment functions within existing protocols in the CGB/DCEG. The first is project is focused on Hereditary Breast/Ovarian Cancer families in the NCI Familial Cancer Registry with known deleterious mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2. She is also involved in studies of Familial Testicular Cancer and Hereditary Bone Marrow Failure Disorders of Childhood (such as Fanconi's anemia). Ms. Peters is, in addition, developing a research program which will bring a genetic counseling perspective to bear on behavioral issues related to increased genetic susceptibility to cancer, with a particular focus on family dynamics.
