|
Dr. Ziad received his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the American University of Beirut, Beirut,
Lebanon in 1993. He received his M.S. in Biomedical Engineering Marquette University, Milwaukee,
Wisconsin (1996) and his Ph.D. in Functional Imaging and Biomedical Engineering in (2000) from a
joint program at Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He came to the NIMH in 2000 as a visiting fellow in the Functional Imaging Methods Unit in the
Laboratory of Brain and Cognition. In 2001 he joined the NIMH Statistical and Scientific Computing
Core.

Research Interests |
Dr. Saad's work in the SSCC involves consulting on MRI and fMRI brain imaging data analysis and developing new tools and methods of analysis. Recent development effort have gone into creating SUMA, a suite of programs for cortical surface model based analyses and displays (see http://afni.nimh.nih.gov/pub/dist/doc/SUMA/SUMA_doc.htm for info and pictures about SUMA).
SUMA interfaces directly and in real time with AFNI, a Functional Neuroimaging analysis software
package. Other projects include development of a new method for inter-subject data analyses on
standardized cortical surface meshes and development of a MATLAB library interfacing with AFNI
data sets. He also consults on FMRI experimental design paradigms and data processing and
interpretation with diverse NIH intramural labs and branches. |
