Fellowships & Positions - Cancer Research Interns

"The Cancer Research Interns (CRI)" Program (formerly known as the Cancer Research Interns in Residence Program) was inaugurated in 2004 to further embrace diversity of trainee applicants to CCR. Over the past 5 years, more than 200 students have been recruited and placed in labs and branches across the CCR. The Office of Training and Education provides the training dollars, some Service & Supply funds, and housing for financially qualified students (click here to view flyer). We have also expanded our network of colleges, universities, and minority-targeted programs to bring a new group of interns to the CCR each summer.

Any students interested in the CCR Cancer Research Interns Program should apply online through the NIH Office of Education Web site at www.training.nih.gov. Applications will be accepted through the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education website from November 17, 2008 until March 2, 2009.  Applicants must also e-mail a Statement of Interest to Ms. Vi Black (vb55k@nih.gov) after the online application is submitted.

Applicants must be:

  • U.S. citizens or permanent residents
  • 18 or older
  • students with cancer-related research interests
  • from groups under-represented in biomedical science and/or disadvantaged backgrounds

Academic requirement: GPA of 3.0 or higher.

All students are required to present posters for the NIH Annual Summer Intern Poster Day. For more information, contact Dr. Jonathan Wiest or Vi Black.
