BSI is real-time, multi-user software for managing all sizes of biological specimen inventories. The latest version of the DCEG Biological Specimen Inventory (BSI) system was released on April 16, 2007. This version has a new module for repository location and freezer management, enhanced support for billing, a new study information manager, study specific authorizations, a new web interface, improved web services, and over 190 other enhancements. This new release utilizes a Postgres 8 open source SQL database to provide the power and scalability that DCEG needs for its large biorepositories.
