Recruitment for Chemistry Scientists and Associates

Department of Health and Human Services
National Institutes of Health
National Human Genome Research Institute
NIH Chemical Genomics Center

The NIH Chemical Genomics Center (NCGC), www.ncgc.nih.gov, is an ultrahigh-throughput screening and chemistry center that discovers chemical probes of gene and cell functions, to be used as research tools for the elucidation of biological functions, or as starting points to the development of new therapeutics for rare and neglected diseases. The NCGC collaborates with over 100 investigators from academic, foundation, and biopharmaceutical laboratories throughout the world, utilizing its unique quantitative high-throughput screening (qHTS) paradigm and innovative cheminformatics and medicinal chemistry platforms to produce new insights in chemical biology, and general principles of chemical interactions with living systems.

We are seeking highly qualified and experienced synthetic and analytical chemists to join the NCGC Chemistry Division. NCGC Chemistry occupies new state-of-the art chemistry laboratories with facilities for all types of single compound and analogue library development with robotic, microwave, and other automation technologies embedded. A fully automated analytical and purification laboratory supports the work of the synthetic chemists.

Successful candidates will work in multidisciplinary project teams developing and performing innovative chemistry to address unprecedented targets and unmet medical needs. In addition to a solid background in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry experience in industry or academics is required. The highly collaborative and fast-paced environment of the NCGC affords highly motivated and creative chemists an unprecedented opportunity for accomplishment and impact; excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a strong publication record is required. Candidates with the MS or PhD with 1 to 5 years of experience, with rank and compensation commensurate with experience. The positions include an ongoing commitment of research support and space.

Interested applicants should send inquiries and resume to NCGC@mail.nih.gov, with "Chemistry Division" in the subject line; if appropriate, letters of recommendation will be requested. Applicants who cannot submit their materials electronically should submit their applications to:
