Category: HHS Only
Description: The integrity of the scientific record is critical to the conduct of science. Risks that compromise objectivity in research must be managed and the highest ethical standards must be upheld. Therefore, it is imperative that all NIH-supported Investigators and their recipient Institutions comply with the requirements of the financial conflict of interest (FCOI) regulations. Investigators must fully disclose their significant financial interests to their Institutions and Institutions must identify, manage, reduce or eliminate financial conflicts of interest and report them to NIH. Your review and oversight is a linchpin of this process. This critical training course will clarify staff roles and responsibilities in the reporting and risk management of FCOI that come to our attention through media, Congressional inquiry, publications, as well as through the receipt of a FCOI report from an NIH-supported Institution.
