Objective of Project:

The objective of this initiative is to solicit and fund highly-innovative, high-risk, cancer-relevant technology development projects. The proposed program capitalizes on the success and intent of the original Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies program in merging a multi-disciplinary group of scientists and engineers for the purposes of proforming cancer research and increasing interest in technology development across the NCI and other NIH institutes.

Description of Project:

Innovative Technologies for the Molecular Analysis of Cancer will help meet the 2015 goal of eliminating death and suffering due to cancer by continuing NCI support of the development of creative methods to understand, prevent, diagnose, and treat cancer. New technologies and approaches not only address specific questions in basic research and clinical practice, but are also beneficial in uncovering and developing new directions and paradigms in cancer research. This initiative will utilize the NIH R21 and R33 mechanisms. A companion initiative, utilizing the SBIR/STTR mechanism, will also be issued.
