Clinical Research Resources

The Division for Clinical Research Resources (DCRR) of the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) ensures that specialized facilities and biological materials needed for patient-oriented research are accessible to biomedical investigators whose research projects are supported by the National Institutes of Health and other peer-reviewed sources.

Within each category below is a list of resources, which are located primarily at academic and research institutions nationwide. Individual entries for each resource describe its emphasis and provide contact information.

Resource Categories

Clinical and Translational Science Awardsaccelerate the process that moves basic discoveries from the laboratory into the clinic.

Clinical Research Informaticsa variety of programs providing informatics support to clinical researchers.

General Clinical Research Centersoffer clinical investigators specialized research environments that provide the infrastructure necessary to conduct patient-oriented research.

Genotyping and Analysis Centerthe first national center for high-throughput genotyping dedicated solely to large-scale single nucleotide polymorphism analysis.

National Gene Vector Biorepositoryserves as a critical resource for academic investigators conducting gene therapy research.

Islet Cell Resource Centersisolate, purify, and characterize human pancreatic islets for subsequent transplantation into patients with type I diabetes.

Human Tissue and Organ Resource for Researchsupports a procurement network to ensure the availability of human tissues and organs for biomedical research.
