Frequently Asked Questions About Review

1. Who to Contact 

In general, you need not contact NIAMS after submitting your application. If there is any further information or material needed, NIAMS will contact you. 

However, if you must contact NIAMS, the appropriate personnel to contact are:

(a) BEFORE REVIEW of your application - the Scientific Review Administrator (SRA) identified on the card you received from the NIH; and 

(b) AFTER REVIEW - the Program official identified on the card.

PLEASE NOTE: The program official (but not the SRA) may give you information on the outcome of the review meeting (such as priority score).

The Center for Scientific Review (CSR) manages the initial review groups that review most of the investigator-initiated applications. The awarding institutes and centers (ICs) manage the review of applications submitted in response to special solicitations and for unique programs (RFAs - requests for applications (grants) or. RFPs - requests for proposals (contracts).
