West Virginia, a prediction was made that in 2001, some 270,000 people
in the United States would have been diagnosed with AIDS and that
179,000 would have died. |

The CDC reported that although the incidence of AIDS was rising for
all racial/ethnic groups and in all geographic regions of the country,
the cumulative incidence of AIDS among blacks and Hispanics was more
than three times the rate for whites. |
