Molecular Genetics
Head: Igor B. Dawid
Investigators in this group use the tools of molecular genetics to answer questions about the regulation of gene activity, in particular by transcriptional and translational control, during development and physiological adaptation of a variety of organisms. In addition, issues of gene transmission and recombination are being addressed. Various systems are employed, including bacteriophage and animal viruses, bacteria, the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster, and embryos from Xenopus and the zebrafish.
