Celldance 2008, 1st Place Public Outreach Video: The Golgi Apparatus
Thursday, January 29, 2009
This animation was created for Dr Lippincott-Schwartz in the Section on Organelle Biology, by Rachid Sougrat PhD in the Cell Biology and Metabolism Program's Electron Microscopy Facility and the Unit on Computer Support Services' Biovisualization Team in the Division of Intramural Research. This animation was originally shown at the Golgi Conference in Pavia, Italy.
Cell Biology and Metabolism Program
Head: Juan Bonifacino
This Laboratory carries out research in the areas of cell, molecular, and receptor biology. Areas of interest include: post-transcriptional gene regulation (using the molecular mechanisms of iron metabolism as a model); the biology of intracellular organelles and membrane traffic; characterization of tumor suppressor genes and their products; the genetic response to environmental stress; and the biology of receptors central to the immune system. The Cell Biology and Metabolism Branch is a highly interactive environment in which the many complementary projects encourage both a wide range of perspectives as well as a broad diversity of technologies.
