------------------------------------------------------------------------------- README Information for Intel(R) Debugger (IDB) for Linux* ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Introduction The Intel(R) Debugger (IDB) 10.1 for Linux* provides the debugging support for the Intel(R) C++ Compiler and the Intel(R) Fortran Compiler running on Intel processors in the Linux environment. Product Directories The Intel(R) Debugger 10.1 is a separately installed component of the Intel(R) C++ Compiler and the Intel(R) Fortran Compiler. If you choose to install the Intel(R) Debugger (IDB), IDB files will be installed on your system. The following directory map indicates the default structure in each sub-directory. +- opt (Root level. Installer can specify a different start level. | Because a different start level is possible, is used | instead of opt/intel/idb/10.1.nnn in this document and other debugger | documents when specifying the installed location of debugger files) | +- intel (Directory for Intel software development products) | +- idb (Subdirectory for Intel(R) Debuggers) ('idbe' for Intel(R) 64 | architecture based systems) | +-10.1.nnn (Subdirectory for release 10.1 products, where nnn | indicates the build number) | +- bin (Binaries, script, and executable files) | +- doc (All debugger documentation and associated files) | + idb_manual (index.htm and other Intel(R) Debugger Manual files) +- man (man page) Product Documentation After product installation, you can view this file (README.txt), the Release Notes (idb_release_notes.htm), and other documentation in the /doc subdirectory. To view the Intel(R) Debugger Manual, open the file /doc/idb_manual/index.htm in a Web browser. The Intel(R) Debugger Manual provides information on how to prepare your program and start the debugger, use debugger commands to accomplish various tasks, view data and call stack. To view the Man Page from the command line, you must first set up your environment by executing the source command for the idbvars file (see the IDB release notes). Other Sources of Information Refer to the following locations for essential information: Installation Information For more information on installation options, see the compiler installation guide INSTALL.htm or INSTALL.txt in the compiler /doc subdirectory. Technical Support For general information on support for Intel software products, see the http://www.intel.com/software/products/support. For additional information, see the Technical Support section of the Intel(R) Debugger for Linux* Release Notes. Release Information Refer to the Release Notes at /doc/idb_release_notes.htm for new features, known limitations, and other information.
