[2] Alcohol consumption levels are defined as follows: Abstainer, less than 0.01 ounces of ethanol per day (less than 4 drinks per year); light drinker, 0.01 to 0.21 ounces of ethanol per day (up to 3 drinks per week); moderate drinker, 0.22 to 0.99 ounces of ethanol per day (4 to 13 drinks per week); heavier drinker, 1.0 or more ounces of ethanol per day (14 or more drinks per week or 2 or more drinks per day).
