Laboratory for Integrative Neuroscience

Mission Statement:

The Laboratory for Integrative Neuroscience

  1. assesses the role of particular molecular targets of alcohol in acute intoxication and alcohol seeking behavior, through a multidisciplinary effort using mice carrying transgenes and targeted gene insertions examining alcohol effects at the level of individual neurons, synapses and neuronal systems, as well as on animal behavior;
  2. analyzes membrane proteins that are targets for alcohol actions through use of site-directed spin –labeling and EPR, as well as fluorescence spectroscopy; and
  3. serves as resource for the creation and provision of transgenic and mutant mice and for electrophysiological and structural biological analysis techniques for researchers at other institutions analyzing alcohol’s effects on target proteins or neurons.
