Postdoctoral Research Position in Biomedical Image Processing and Document Image Analysis
 
Position Description

The Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications at the National Library of Medicine, a research component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services, is recruiting for postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and student interns to participate in ongoing R&D projects. Some projects are described on archive.nlm.nih.gov.

Current projects: Preservation of digital resources, digital libraries, biomedical image databases, content-based image retrieval, metadata extraction techniques for documents and video, multimedia-rich interactive publications, handheld computing.

Qualifications: Ph.D., other advanced degrees or substantive research experience, in computer science, engineering, applied mathematics and allied disciplines.

Background required in: document image analysis and understanding, Web document analysis, video and multimedia processing, content-based image retrieval. Applicants without a doctoral degree should possess exceptional programming skills in at least one language (C++, Java, MATLAB).

Available are year-round or summer student internships. These are non-career excepted service positions. Salary levels commensurate with seniority and experience.
