Joinpoint Regression Program
Description:
The Joinpoint Regression Program:
- takes trend data (e.g. cancer rates) and models them as joined linear segments (on a log or linear scale)
- statistically chooses the simplest joinpoint model allowed by the data
- estimates where each joined segment begins and ends
- graphs the final model
This software is especially useful in determining if recent trends in cancer rates have changed. It is currently used to report trends in the NCI's Annual Cancer Statistics Review.
