About the Research Team

One of the special features of the research strategy used by the Clinical Genetics Branch (CGB) is that all studies are conducted by a team of investigators. Each member of the research team brings his or her own special expertise to the study. In that way, we are able to conduct research into many related problems or questions that exist with regard to a particular familial cancer syndrome.

The Study Team for CGB's Breast Imaging Study consists of the following investigators:

  • Mark H. Greene, MD:
Dr. Greene is the Chief of the NCI Clinical Genetics Branch. He has been caring for and studying patients with familial and hereditary cancers for 25 years.
  • Jennifer Loud, CRNP, DNP:
Jennifer Loud is the study's Principal Investigator.
  • Phuong Mai, MD:
Dr. Mai is a medical oncologist and clinical cancer geneticist. She has cared for patients enrolled in cancer treatment trials and conducts research on families with a high risk of cancer.
  • Christine Mueller, DO:
Dr. Mueller is a family practitioner and medical geneticist, with a special interest in HBOC.
  • Paul Han, MD, MS
Dr. Han is an internal medicine physician with a research interest in medical decision making.
  • June Peters, MS and Ann Garrity Carr, MS:
Ms. Peters and Ms. Carr are genetic counselors who specialize in counseling and educational services related to familial cancer and genetic testing. Ms. Peters also conducts research on genetic counseling, family support and communications.
  • Ruthann Giusti, MD, MS:
Dr. Giusti is a medical oncologist and the originator of the Breast Imaging Study.
