Cancer Intervention and Surveillance Modeling Network

Modeling to guide public health research and priorities

Breast Cancer Modeling

The CISNET breast cancer group was initiated in the first round of CISNET with seven modeling teams funded, and continued in the second round with four modeling teams funded through three grants. In addition to the funded groups, there are three affiliate members that take an active role in the consortium and participate in group analyses.

The group's interests include understanding the impact of screening, treatment advances and risk factors on breast cancer incidence and mortality, with a special focus on high risk and under served populations. The models have been used to investigate optimal screening strategies and consider various starting and stopping ages for mammography screening.
