The Food and Drug Administration has issued several warnings for consumers not to eat certain peanut butter products due to risk of contamination with salmonella. Many foods are subject to recall. The FDA has established a website where consumers can search for information on recalls: www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/peanutbutterrecall/index.cfm .

People who think they may have become ill from eating peanut butter are urged to contact their health care provider and their local health department.

More specifics on the FDA warnings can be found at www.fda.gov and information on salmonella illness and outbreak investigations can be found at www.cdc.gov. The Community Health Branch of the Division of Occupational Health and Safety can be reached at 301.496.4294.
