Back to NINDS Postdoctoral Training Fellowships The NINDS Intramural Research program is located on the main NIH campus in Bethesda, MD, just minutes from downtown Washington DC. The Intramural Program is one of the largest neuroscience research enterprises supporting research programs in basic, translational and clinical neurosciences. The research interests of our principal investigators cover a broad range of areas including channel biophysics, synapses and circuits, neuronal development, integrative neuroscience, brain imaging and neurological disorders. The Postdoctoral Fellowship program is a major component of the training mission of NINDS and has been designed to provide superb advanced training and research experience to postdoctoral scientists who are in the early stages of their professional research careers. The emphasis of the program is to prepare young scientists for independent careers in the basic or clinical neuroscience research. A Monday Neuroscience Seminar Series provides exposure to the most innovative research being conducted throughout the world and an increasing number of Special Interests Groupsserve to catalyze interactions between scientists in different areas. The Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences currently offers over 180 graduate level courses to NIH postdoctoral fellows. Many of the FAES courses are organized and run by postdoctoral fellows themselves, thus offering an excellent opportunity to develop and polish teaching skills. Office of Intramural Training and education maintains an informative website that covers many general issues pertinent to postdoctoral training at the NIH. Finally, the NINDS is committed to the financial support of postdoctoral fellows, during training in the Intramural Program and the early years of their independent research careers.
