What is the purpose of the study?
To understand how genes influence substance abuse.

Who can participate in the study?
Men and women who:

  • Are 18 years of age or older

Participants are encouraged to refer family members to this study.

What will participants be asked to do?
The study lasts one day for 2 to 3 hours but no more
than 5 hours.

Participants will:

  • Complete some questionnaires
  • Provide blood samples

Where is the study taking place?
The NIDA Intramural Research Program is located on the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center campus in East Baltimore.

How much does it cost?
There is no charge for study-related medical care, including study visits and procedures.

Will I receive payment of some kind?
All study participants will be compensated for their time and travel.
