Elective Rotations for Residents and Clinical Fellows

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers short-term elective rotations at the NIH Clinical Center, a 240-bed hospital located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland, to residents or clinical fellows who are currently enrolled in Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited training programs throughout the United States. Patients who are admitted to the Clinical Center have illnesses that are currently under investigation by NIH clinician-researchers. Often, these are patients with the world's rarest and most interesting instances of a particular disease. The most recent treatment strategies are evaluated at the NIH, and new procedures are performed here as well.
