Determine the risk factors that explain the high mortality and incidence rates for bladder cancer in men and women in northern New England.

New England Bladder Cancer Study

  • A population-based case-control study of bladder cancer in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.
  • 2,631 subjects (1,213 cases and 1,418 controls) have been interviewed to date.
  • Data collection activities included: personal interviews, collection of drinking water, and collection of blood, buccal cells, urine, toenails.
  • Data collection began April 2002 and ended September 2005.
