Competitive Postdoctoral Fellowships

There are a large number of competitive fellowship awards that are available to postdoctoral fellows at NINDS. There are currently three NIH sources of funding for which postdoctoral fellows can compete:

• NINDS Competitive Postdoctoral Fellowship
• National Research Service Award (NRSA)
• Pharmacological Research Associate Training program (PRAT)

In addition, there are a large number of competitive fellowship awards that are available to postdoctoral fellows at NINDS that are awarded and funded by private foundations and institutions. The NINDS strongly encourages its postdoctoral fellows to seek these awards, many of which are very prestigious and highly competitive. Some examples include:

• Life Sciences Research Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowships
• Helen Hay Whitney Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowships
• Human Frontiers Science Program Fellowships
