Account Technician
Job Description NIH Accounting Technicians provide essential support services to accounting and financial operations and are responsible for a wide range of financial transactions, data accuracy, and financial information tracking. Accounting Technicians receive and verify vouchers, invoices and other documents and ensure that vouchers or invoices are for items or services ordered, that funds have been obligated, and that payments are legal. They review accounts in automated accounting systems to ensure that transactions are properly processed, research discrepancies, and reconcile account balances. They also maintain records for contracts, grants, purchase orders and other financial obligations and agreements, and prepare reports. These positions require knowledge of basic accounting methods, procedures and techniques, knowledge of obligations, receiving reports, and payment documents, and knowledge of automated financial accounting systems.
