Why is NIH using this AlertNIH
system?
With recent events that have
taken place, NIH feels it is necessary
to have a way to communicate
with all of its employees and
contract employees very rapidly.
AlertNIH gives NIH the ability to
broadcast messages to all employees
or selected audiences
more efficiently than mass communication
methods already in
place.
How will I receive alerts?
You can receive alerts on up to 5
voice devices and 5 text devices.
Is my information confidential?
Yes. Although AlertNIH is
hosted by Send Word Now they
will never intentionally disclose
confidential formation to a third
party. To view their privacy policies

Will AlertNIH or SendWordNow use my
information to send unsolicited messages to
me and my contacts?
No. The system will only be used by NIH
for official purposes.

The only individuals who will be able to
view your personal information are your
ICs Emergency Coordinator, Deputy Emergency
Coordinator, and the Administrative
Personnel they designate. NIH Emergency

from AlertNIH?
You will receive “Emergency Notifications”
about incidents that may affect you
or your work station that need to be received
on a time-sensitive basis. You may
also receive test messages.
Will AlertNIH be the only means
of notifying me of an emergency?
No. AlertNIH will only be used
by NIH when a message needs to
be disseminated rapidly. When
time is not an issue, NIH will use
traditional methods like mass
emails. Individual ICs may
choose to use AlertNIH differently.
What should I expect when I receive
a message?
You may receive an email, phone
call, or message to all of your registered devices.
The message may also
give you instructions to respond,
or do other things. These instructions
will be given to you both
before and after the message.
What happens if I leave my IC or
NIH?
Your Administrative Officer is
responsible for deleting or moving
your NED profile, once this
occurs AlertNIH will be updated
to match the change in the NED.
