Dr. Weng received his M.D. degree in 1984 from Shanghai First Medical College, China. He received his Ph.D. in Immunology from Baylor College of Medicine in 1993 where he studied the gene usage and molecular structure of anti-ganglioside antibodies form patients of monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance with Donald Marcus. During his postdoctoral work with Richard Hodes at the NCI, he investigated the role of telomerase expression, and telomere length and maintenance in lymphocytes. Dr. Weng joined NIA as an Investigator in 1997. His laboratory is studying the age-associated changes in function of the immune and nervous systems.
