Introduction

You are eligible for the programs offered here if you belong to an underrepresented minority. For CMBB purposes, a person is an underrepresented minority if he or she belongs to a particular ethnic and racial group that has been determined by the grantee institution to be underrepresented in cancer-related biomedical, behavioral, clinical or social sciences research. Underrepresented individuals are not limited to racial and ethnic minorities but can also include individuals, as selected by the institution, as underrepresented as cancer researchers, e.g., first generation college graduates, the economically disadvantaged, etc..

Underrepresented Minority: Individual from racial and ethnic groups or other groups (first generation college graduates, the economically disadvantaged, etc), which have been determined by the grantee institution to be underrepresented in cancer-related biomedical, behavioral, clinical or social sciences research.

Minority Serving Institutions: Institutions in which students of racial and ethnic minority groups which are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences comprise a significant proportion of the enrollments AND that have a track record of commitment to racial and ethnic minority faculty, students and investigators.

Citizenship: All CMBB awards are limited to citizens or non-citizen nationals of the United States or to individuals who have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence (i.e., in possession of an Alien Registration Receipt Card) at the time of application.
