Event Details:

Dear Colleague:

We are pleased to announce that NHGRI will once again be presenting its "Current Topics in Genome Analysis" lecture series. The 15 lectures will be held in the Lipsett Amphitheatre, NIH Clinical Center (Building 10) from 10:00
- 11:30 am each Tuesday, beginning January 15, 2008.

Given the rapid advances in genomics and bioinformatics that have taken place in the past few years, we feel that an intensive review of the major areas of ongoing genome research would be of great value to our fellow NIH colleagues. A mixture of local and outside speakers will give the lectures and, as you will see from the schedule below, we have designed the series to cover the major areas of genomics. The lectures are geared at the level of first year graduate students, are practical in nature, and are intended for a diverse audience.
Handouts will be provided for each talk, and time will be available at the end of each lecture for questions and discussion.

A Web site has been established for the series that contains additional information about the lectures, electronic versions of all course handouts, and information about video archives of the lectures. The URL for the course Web site is:

   http://www.genome.gov/COURSE2008

An automated mailing list has been set up for this course, and we ask all participants to subscribe to this list. The course organizers will be using this mailing list to remind everyone of upcoming lectures, as well as to notify participants of any announcements or changes to the course schedule. To subscribe to this mailing list, point your Web browser to

Click the link marked "Join or Leave the List" and follow the instructions provided on the subsequent page to subscribe.

Sign language interpreters will be provided. Individuals with disabilities who need reasonable accommodation to participate in this lecture series should contact Annette Sante, Office of the Scientific Director, NHGRI/DIR (301-402-2018; asante@mail.nih.gov) and/or the Federal Relay (1-800-877-8339).
Requests should be made at least five days in advance of each lecture.

The National Institutes of Health/Foundation for the Advanced Education in the Sciences (NIH/FAES) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

We look forward to seeing you on January 15!
