Web Conferencing for Online Training

“By participating in an enterprise architecture domain team, I was able to discover existing solutions at NIH that we could use in our organization. We will be able to deliver a new training service cheaper and faster than we ever expected.”

- Human Resources Specialist, Office of Human Resources

Case Study

A Human Resources (HR) Specialist in the Office of Human Resources (OHR) was able to use and apply the NIH Enterprise Architecture to her project, saving valuable time and money.

Specifically, OHR had a requirement to conduct HR systems training for personnel in remote locations in Baltimore, Maryland and North Carolina. They wanted to reduce the travel and administrative costs associated with preparing and delivering onsite training.

During her participation on a domain team, the HR Specialist learned a Web conferencing solution was already available at NIH that would meet their needs. So, OHR will be able to use an existing solution in NIH’s architecture baseline, rather than developing a new solution. They will also be able to implement the new training solution faster, cheaper, and better, as a result of using the NIH Enterprise Architecture.

In the long run NIH will minimize training and operations costs because of a shared solution across different organizations within NIH. OHR will be able to deliver more cost-effective in a timelier manner to more users.
