The NINDS has launched a new planning effort that will combine an aspirational vision for the future with practical strategies for more effectively pursuing the NINDS mission to reduce the burden of neurological disorders. The strategic planning process began with the development of a Blue Sky Vision for the future of neuroscience and the broad goals the NINDS should aim to achieve. Now in the next phase of the planning effort, the Institute is exploring how best to focus and prioritize its activities through four strategic planning modules concentrating on basic, clinical, translational, and disease research.
The NINDS expects to report on the findings and recommendations of the full strategic planning effort in 2009.
