NITAAC Website Notice - RFI for Future Contracts

Status of potential successor contract to the CIO-SP2i and IW2nd GWACs

National Institutes of Health (NIH) Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC) took its first major step in developing a successor Government-Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) to its current Chief Information Officer - Solutions and Partners 2 Innovations (CIO-SP2i) and the Image World 2 New Dimensions (IW2nd) GWACs, which are both expiring in December 2010 by posting a Request for Information (RFI) in FedBizOps on April 30, 2008. The successor contract will continue to support government Information Technology (IT) efforts with a focus on health and research IT. Since their inception, the government has ordered almost $4 billion worth of services from these contracts.
The RFI solicited interest from industry and feedback from both industry and the government as to the technology envisioned under the successor contract and best practices to be employed as well as potential new sources for these types of requirements.
NITAAC would like to take this opportunity to thank the many companies that responded to the Request for Information (RFI) regarding the successor Government-wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) to the current CIO-SP2i and IW2nd GWACs. NITAAC appreciates the tremendous time and effort expended in providing this valuable feedback to the government. As stated in the RFI, the government is analyzing the response and is considering the feedback in developing a business case for this effort and in formulating a possible future Request for Proposal (RFP).
Until the business case is approved, NITAAC can neither provide any definitive timeframe for the solicitation process nor any further information about the requirement. However, should the business case be approved and NITAAC goes forward with an RFP, NITAAC will want to award the new GWAC in enough time to allow for a smooth transition from the current contracts that expire in December 2010 to the new GWAC.
NITAAC appreciates the interest shown in this requirement and will post any future developments, such as a possible future RFP, in FedBizOpps.
