National Institutes of Health Rapid Access to Interventional Development (NIH-RAID Pilot)

Description:
Promising ideas for novel therapeutic interventions can sometimes encounter roadblocks in the pipeline for preclinical development. Where private-sector capacity is limited or not available, developmental resources provided by the federal government can bridge the gap between discovery and clinical testing so that more efficient translation of promising discoveries can occur. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to invite investigators to apply for access to government-funded contract resources needed for the early and late stage preclinical development of small molecule, oligonucleotide, and peptide therapeutic agents. Available services include: synthesis in bulk of small molecules; synthesis of oligonucleotides; chemical synthesis of peptides; scale-up production; development of analytical methods; isolation and purification of natural products; pharmacokinetic/ADME studies including bioanalytical method development; development of suitable formulations; manufacture of Phase 1 drug supplies; range-finding initial toxicology; Investigational New Drug (IND)-directed toxicology; and product development planning and advice in IND preparation.
