IPYThe Changing Geographies of the Arctic Region Association of American Geographers 2009 Annual Meeting - March 22nd to 27th, Las Vegas, Nevada
The arctic region is currently undergoing rapid economic, political, environmental, and climatic change. There is a growing interest in the Arctic among both geographers and the general public. This session invites papers examining any aspect of change in the human, physical, cultural, or environmental geography of this region. The 2009 AAG comes near the end of the International Polar Year (IPY) and provides an opportunity to present results from fieldwork undertaken during that time.

Arctic Science Summit Week - 2009 March 24th to 26th, Bergen, Norway
The purpose of the summit is to provide opportunities for international coordination, collaboration and cooperation in all areas of Arctic science and to combine science and management meetings. The ASSW also offers insight into Arctic research undertaken by the host country. Side meetings organized by other groups with interests in Arctic science and policy will take place at the same time.

IPY The 14th International Congress on Circumpolar Health: Securing The IPY Legacy: From Research to Action - July 11th to 16th, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada
The congress addresses the long-standing need for the exchange of health-related knowledge amongst scientists, health care professionals , policy analysts, government agencies, and community leaders, as well as the results of recent research efforts for the benefit of all humankind. The special focus of this congress is on the IPY legacy for health research and action in the circumpolar region.
