- Mau MK, Yee D. Hawaii’s role to increase public participation in health research. Hawaii Medical Journal 2008;67:4–6. This article was produced in July 2007 by the full COPR (including members with terms ranging from April 2006 to March 2008) to promote the importance of public participation in the research priority–setting process, provide effective examples of NIH public engagement activities, and suggest additional ways to advance the role of the public in research.
- Avalere Health. Patient and Clinician Participation in Research Agenda Setting: Lessons for Future Application. 2008. The COPR was recognized as one of eight best practice organizations integrating patient and clinician perspectives in research priority setting. Read more (1.6MB)
- Matthew Margo, LL.M., produced a 30-minute CBS Cares Radio interview with Elias Zerhouni, M.D., and the internationally recognized reporter Charles Osgood in July 2007. This in-depth interview covered topics from the NIH strategic focus within the Roadmap for Medical Research to stem cell research and breakthrough in science from the human genome sequencing efforts. The interview was made available to a large number of radio stations nationally and internationally.
- Syed Ahmed, M.D., M.P.H., Dr.P.H., interviewed with WUWM Lake Effect (89.7 FM), a local National Public Radio station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 30, 2007. Dr. Ahmed discussed his role as a COPR member and his role as the Director of the Center for Healthy Communities in Wisconsin.
- Nicole Johnson, M.P.H., interviewed Elias Zerhouni, M.D., on CNBC’s segment of dLife, a show dedicated to diabetes that features insights into diabetes science, psychology, and daily living. The interview focused on the general role and philosophy of NIH and how NIH contributes to diabetes research, and it aired on dLife three times in 2007.
