Welcome to the NHLBI at the Clinical Center
Patient Information
The researchers and staff of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the Clinical Center welcome you.
We hope that you will find your stay at the Clinical Center a rewarding experience as you become a partner in our efforts to learn the causes of disease, treat illness and sustain health.
We know many of you are already stressed by the circumstances which bring
you here and by the inconvenience of travel and leaving your home environment.
Our complimentary
valet parking is just one of the special services we offer
to make your arrivals and departures smooth and effortless. A floorplan
map of the new Clinical Center is also available on the web and as
you enter the hospital. Our nursing care is unsurpassed and the low
nurse-to-patient ratio assures you of top quality care and individual
attention. We have state of the art equipment for testing and care of
patients.
We'd like to introduce you to the NIH Bethesda Campus and our surrounding
area and the pleasant surroundings we strive to bring to you. Be sure
to look at the photos of
the Clinical Center and the NIH campus, especially the relaxing
garden photos, to familiarize yourself with our facilities
and the beauty of our campus. This site will introduce you to the Clinical
Center grounds, conveniences, and amenities, as well as the surrounding
Washington area where you can enjoy a wealth of activities, good food,
entertainment, culture, music, and relaxation.
Our Recreation
Therapy (see further information in the Patient Handbook)
can arrange complimentary bus tours and tickets to ongoing events and
they work to tailor activities to individual preferences. For those who
cannot leave the hospital during their stay, our Recreation Therapy Department
provides in-hospital activities and entertainment. We are constantly trying
to improve the Clinical Center to accommodate the needs of our patients
and take the stress out of travel, parking, being away from home and staying
at a large facility. We welcome your feedback and suggestions to improve
these pages for our future guests at the Clinical Center.
