The Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Centers (TTURCs) (Website) are composed of eight research center grants funded in 2002-2003 by several NIH institutes to study a wide range of topics in regard to tobacco use and addiction. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation funded cooperative dissemination activities for the program. Mission - Bring together multiple disciplines to study topics, such as the genetic and psychosocial factors in smoking, effective smoking cessation treatments, and exploration of molecules or genes that could affect tobacco exposure and disease risk.
