New Source for Women’s Health Research Information Debuts Format: Web Site Institute: National Library of Medicine (NLM), Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) A new Web site featuring the latest information on significant topics in women’s health research from scientific journals and other peer-reviewed sources is now available. NLM and ORWH partnered to create this one-stop Web portal for consumers, researchers, and advocates interested in authoritative resources and research initiatives for women’s health.
The new user-friendly site includes topical searches based on ClinicalTrials.gov, PubMed, and MedlinePlus. The 2008 National Institutes of Health (NIH) Research Priorities for Women’s Health were used to identify overarching themes, specific health topics, and research initiatives in women’s health for these searches. Other Web resources used include AIDSinfo, American Indian Health, Arctic Health, the Household Products Database, MedlinePlus, and NIHSeniorHealth.
NLM and ORWH hope that creating such a one-stop online resource for women’s health research will enable consumers, health care providers, and researchers to more quickly access the latest information available on scientific developments for important issues related to women. Next Steps The new Women’s Health Resources Web site is available at http://sis.nlm.nih.gov/outreach/womenshealthoverview.html and on the ORWH Web site at http://orwh.od.nih.gov/nat_lib_med.html.
