1 Diagnostic mammography examination: Mammography examinations indicated by the radiologist to be for evaluation of a breast problem. 2 Cancers = The number of examinations with a tissue diagnosis of ductal carcinoma in situ or invasive cancer within 30 days prior to or 1 year following the examination. 3 Cancer rate (per 1,000 examinations) = The number of cancers among 1,000 diagnostic mammography examinations. 4 Cancer detection rate (per 1,000 examinations) = The number of cancers among 1,000 diagnostic mammography examinations with a positive interpretation (BI-RADS category 0 or 3 with a recommendation for biopsy, 4, or 5). |
