Peer Review of Stem Cell Science Working Group
With any new area of science, integrating the review of scientific applications into the mainstream of peer review is a challenge. A key challenge is developing sufficient expertise in review panels.
The goals of the Working Group are to:
-
Evaluate the current status of stem cell applications, triage status, IRG assignments and requisite expertise, effective SRA knowledge and management of stem cell policies and procedures, etc.
-
Review assignments and abstracts of all applications submitted for review that use hES cell codes.
-
Evaluate the need for center/virtual stem cell repository.
-
Make recommendations on steps to facilitate equitable review, and need for preliminary data, etc.
-
Consider specifically the need and justification for a designated stem cell review group.
