Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Special Statutory Funding Program

Research Consortia and Clinical Trials Networks

Complications

Animal Models of Diabetes Complications Consortium (AMDCC)
The AMDCC is an inter-disciplinary consortium designed to develop animal models that closely mimic the human complications of diabetes for the purpose of studying disease pathogenesis, prevention, and treatment. More Information

Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network (DRCR.net)
The mission of DRCR.net is to facilitate the conduct of multi-center clinical research of diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema (DME), and associated conditions. More Information

Drug Screening Program for Diabetic Complications
This program is a collaborative effort to screen approximately 1,000 FDA-approved compounds in individual assays, using assays of hyperglycemic cellular injury or other assays relevant to diabetic complications. (Please see summaries of October 5-6, 2006 and February 7-8, 2005 meetings on this research effort.) More Information

Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (EDIC)
The aim of EDIC is to study the clinical course and risk factors associated with the long-term complications of type 1 diabetes, using the cohort of the Diabetes Control and Complications Trial (DCCT). More Information

Family Investigation of Nephropathy and Diabetes (FIND)
The FIND consortium is carrying out studies to elucidate the genetic susceptibility to kidney disease in patients, especially those with diabetes mellitus, as well as genetic susceptibility to retinopathy in diabetic patients. More Information

Genetics of Kidneys in Diabetes (GoKinD)
The fundamental aim of GoKinD is to facilitate investigator-driven research into the genetic basis of diabetic nephropathy by collecting, storing, and distributing genetic samples from cases and controls of type 1 diabetes and diabetic nephropathy. More Information
