Downloadable PDF Fact Sheet (597 KB)
What is the purpose?
The eNotification feature is a shared system among the eRA Modules that sends and tracks notifications to applicants and federal agency staff when a grant-related event occurs. These notifications may inform an applicant about the availability of a summary statement, for example, or tell a grants management specialist when a program official has signed off on a non-competing renewal. This feature is accessed only by other eRA systems or eRA staff.
What are the features of eNotification?
eNotification allows eRA staff to manage the notifications, register events, create user groups, and easily monitor system messages.
The notifications:
- Are event driven
- Can be sent as individual messages - one e-mail per event, or as consolidated e-mails – one e-mail per multiple occurrences of the event (i.e. send a grants specialist one e-mail at the end of the day with all records where the program official completed an approval)
- Support HTML Based Rich Text (Bold, Italic, etc)
- Support multiple attachments – multiple files are zipped
- Support delayed announcements (such as the Project Director/Principal Investigator (PD/PI) cannot be notified for 24 hours that scores release were released)
Some example of eNotifications include:
- Scores Released
- Summary Statements Released
- New Assignments
- Change in Assignments
- Just-in-Time Requested
- Program Official Approved
- Council Changed
For security purposes, e-mail notifications to applicants generally alert the user to the availability of new information related to their grant or grant application in the Commons.
